I started 2015 with all good intentions of taking better care of myself! I think I might have got to midway through February before I allowed myself to be sucked into stressful situations (not always my own), found myself working longer and longer hours and more and more weekends. Building an award winning business is not all about parties and glamourous dresses!!
In April, my strong, independent mum very suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. The fact that she had been unwell for a while and wasn’t getting any younger (who is?) didn’t make this event any easier to cope with. The days and weeks surrounding that event are a blur but I do know that eating was very far down my list of priorities and that my 3 or 4 shots of wheatgrass every day during that time are what saw me through one of the sadness periods of my life.
At the beginning of July I was invited to take part in the Sodexo Supplier Inclusion Programme which provided valuable insight to Sodexo and the markets they operate in but also involved travel back and forth to the UK, on the same day. Good job, I never travel without a supply of wheatgrass shots.
In the middle of July, I decided to undertake a 28 day juice detox with an effort to look my very best for my son’s wedding – you know glossy hair, clear skin and eyes, not to mention shedding a few pounds. When I am doing a juice detox I always feel great. Adding a couple of extra shots of wheatgrass to the juices is a great way of getting extra nutrients to allow you to function while only drinking juice. Suddenly I was sleeping again, had more energy than I knew what to do with, and was looking better than I had all year!
Thankfully I was back on the daily juice wagon as in September we started shelf life trials on our new product range and the late night working routine kicked in again. This time I was prepared for it and made sure I was drinking 2/3 shots of wheatgrass per day.
And somehow we are now heading towards the end of November with another year almost over and the realisation that everything is possible and achievable.
Wheatgrass has once again saved the year for me!
Maybe you will allow it to be your saving grace in 2016!
